Match No 11

Fifth Round Arsenal vs Liverpool Sunday 16th February 2014

The match started with Liverpool looking like the home team, 2 early chances for Stirling might well have put the visitors ahead. The match was played at great speed and that caused a few early yellow cards. Arsenal took the lead with their first real chance and it settled the home side. The match continued to live up to the hype with some great football and half time arrived in no time at all. With an early second half goal for the home side it looked like game over but Liverpool had other ideas and hit back and a penalty gave Gerard the goal that got them back into it. It was then end to end, mostly the Arsenal end it has to be said, and a big shout for a second penalty was waved away. Howard Webb got lots of stick from both sets of fans but I felt he handled the game well. The atmosphere and emotion at the game was fantastic, as was the match itself it really was a great advert for home football and the F A Cup.... I was a neutral but got caught up in the excitement of the game with both sets of fans making it a great afternoon. It almost made up for the lack of fundraising!
